The invention of radar.


The invention of radar played an integral part in protecting Great Britain during WWII. British air squadrons knew where and when German bombers were coming from which allowed them to pretty much kick the German's asses, or arses if you will. But the invention of radar also had a second more sad side effect; this guy lost his job.
